Who Knew?: The Secret Socks/Sex/Orgasm Link
Socks during sex? Before you say no, give us a chance to change your mind. Tweet
I don’t know about you, I kind of think that when it comes to sex I generally know how things work.
There are some things in life that are a complete mystery to me and I’m not ashamed to admit it; how to make and manage money is not one of my strong suits, I’m not very good at talking to strangers at parties or work functions, and I suck at the grill.
But when it comes to sex and a few other things (like dancing, pitching and batting, home repairs) all come pretty natural to me.
That’s why I was stunned when I saw this headline today:
Wow. I have to think about that.
Because based on everything I previously knew about sex, socks wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference for me.
Unless, of course, I’m with Mrs. Robinson who is using a pair of socks to seduce me.
But wait a minute. What about her?
Ahhh.
Now this is starting to make sense.
What’s one thing I know about women?
They often have cold feet; and I mean that literally.
So wearing socks will keep those feet warm.
Warm feet, I guess, could make a big difference.
Turns out, now I’m on the right track because as the author of the story, certified sex educator and clinical sexologist Gigi Engle explains in her piece:
I rarely have sex without socks on, because it helps me orgasm more easily since I’m not thinking about how cold my feet are. In my clinical practice, I often recommend that clients who need help relaxing consider how warm their hands and feet are during sex. It may be a bit unscientific (because, honestly, not that many people seem to want to study ejaculating with warm feet), but it does seem to work for a lot of people.
And we learn in the article that cold feet may apply in other ways too.
For instance, socks will also protect her against your cold feet:
“I will get completely naked during sex, but the socks are staying on,” says Taylor, 30. “Have you ever had a frozen toe touch your skin while getting down? It’s like being electrocuted. No, thank you.”
And then, it turns out, socks may also help her get rid of a more metaphorical case of cold feet:
“Are socks the miraculous cure-all for everyone who struggles to orgasm? No. But that doesn’t mean a percentage of people can’t benefit from the added coziness and even the feeling of security that comes with wearing socks during sexual acts,” says Amanda Chatel, a sexpert who has researched this topic extensively.
So now, add socks to your growing list of things to buy from Amazon to make things work just a little better in the bedroom; in fact, while you’re at Amazon consider doing a search for “sexy socks for women” so the whole sock thing can become something you really enjoy, too:
