We know smoking kills; and we're certainly not suggesting that you take it up as a hobby. But we also miss all the great things about smoking almost no one talks about anymore. That's why we love the way Matt Labash from the Washington Examiner handles this reader's question.

The problem with cigarettes is, they may kill you…but they also bring out the best in some people while they’re still alive.

You know what I’m talking about:

  • Smokers are usually the most fun people at a party
  • Smokers are usually the best storytellers around the “Smokers’ Stand”
  • Smokers are usually the least judgemental people to be around, which is a great distraction if you’re prone to being hard on yourself.

There’s also a romantic look to smoking that non-smokers just can’t replicate.

Smoking is more than a bad habit. It’s also a great look.

This is Bogart with a cigarette, and look how things are working out between him and Lauren Bacall. Would he be getting anywhere with her if that was a piece of avocado toast tucked in there between his two lips?

Look, I know smoking kills; and I am certainly not suggesting that you take it up as a hobby.

But I also miss all the great things about smoking that almost no one talks about anymore.

That’s why I love the way Matt Labash from the Washington Examiner answers this reader’s question about what’s been lost by vilifying smokers and smoking:
